We will start at the SouthEast end of Busse Woods and hike on the red trail on the south side of Higgins road, connect to the black trail and go all the way up to Portillos at 1900 Golf Road in Rolling Meadows. That should be about 5.7 miles.
We will have a nice, long (60-90ish minutes) relaxing lunch at Portillos and then hike back on the black trail and continue along the red trail on the north side of Higgins road - about another 5.7 miles for slightly over 11 miles total.
The snow has come down and there won't be any melting weather for a while. There should be a few inches of snow on the trail but it's a pretty flat trail so a pair of normal shoes should be okay but your feet might get wet or cold.
Come on out for a nice long hike and lunch - or just meet us for lunch at 12:30

If you only wanted to walk half (5.7 miles) of it, you could meet us for lunch at Portillos, walk back with us and then I'm sure someone would be able to drive you back to Portillos.
Map to Portillos:
Remember - we hike every Saturday and Sunday all year round. We only stop for severe weather (and NO, a few inches of snow is not severe weather!)
Saturdays are shorter hikes - 3 to 6 miles.
Sundays are longer hikes - 6 to ?? miles.
