Lets hike through the trails of The Hollows in Cary. These are fantastic trails through the woods.
There is a few inches of snow on the ground and I'm sure it will still be there (or maybe even deeper) on Saturday. There are lots of little hills and a few big ones. Because of the snow and hills, this will be a slower and more strenuous walk than usual.
**DO NOT** come on this hike unless you have some proper footwear!! You will certainly slip and fall on the hills in a pair of normal tennis shoes. Wear some good hiking boots or use Stabiliciers or something similar. I walked through there on Monday with normal shoes and a pair of Stabilicers and I was fine.
They are available at REI, LL Bean and other places.
Map to the Hollows parking lot (as usual - don't use the Meetup map):
We will go out for lunch after the hike. There is a Portillos nearby but I am open to other suggestions.
Remember - we hike every Saturday and Sunday all year round. We only stop for severe weather (and NO, a few inches of snow is not severe weather!)
Saturdays are shorter hikes - 3 to 6 miles.
Sundays are longer hikes - 6 to ?? miles.
