***ATTN: WRITERS ARE VERY WELCOME TO THE GROUP***
What's a "Bad Girl"? She does what she wants and just don't give a f*@#. She engages in behavior and activities many women wouldn't dare to consider. She likes being "Bad", and has an attitude like no other...And is often the lead character in some of the most popular street-lit novels.
She has been a stripper, thug, pimp, gangsta-chick, jump-off, round-the-way girl, and at times just a troubled, naive teen going down the wrong misguided path. From "The Coldest Winter Ever", to "True To The Game", to even non street-lit works like Zane's "the Sisters of APF" and Toni Morrison's "Sula"--an African-American great literary classic. "Bad Girls" have, for many years, ruled the pages of our favorite urban literature.
So, why join a book club dedicated to street-lit, urban dramas, and African-American classics that feature "Bad Girl" leads? 'Cause There's a Bad Girl in All of Us!
Whether you're in your 20's or 30's, working professional or unemployed, married or single, mommy or have no kids, urban or suburban, ballin' or broke--if you enjoy street-lit/urban favorites and classics, join "the Bad Girls Book Club". Street-lit draws MUCH criticism. But the genre also has a huge and strong cult-following. Let's be the first book club in the DMV on meetup.com that focuses, primarily, on urban novels with "Bad Girl" leads.
Once a month (usually the last Saturday of the month), we'll get together and discuss the "Bad Girl" book of the month. And, every so often, we'll meet up to act like the Bad Girls we are. Everything from trips to the gun range, pole-dancing/strip-tease classes, boxing classes, pamper/pleasure parties, Vegas trips, bike weeks, Mardis Gras, or just a night out in the city...Whatever! The possibilities are endless. So, let's do it. Let's explore the Bad Girl in ALL of us!
