This is a Meetup for artist who would like some instruction in classical figure drawing and painting.

We are a group of artists called the Teaching Studios of Art and we are hosting this meet up at both of our locations. One meets in Bushwick, Brooklyn on Thursdays Nights 6:30-9:30pm.

Our studio is fully equipped with easels, side tables to put your stuff on, and great lighting.

We will begin with an anatomy lecture and few short poses, and then have one long pose that lasts for the rest of the night and for 5 sessions total.

This Meetup is is designed to give artists of all levels a strategy in drawing and painting of the human form. We begin by learning to convert the great masses of the body into specific shapes, using both linear contour and structural building blocks. Different types of classical proportions will be discussed, as well as different methods of measuring in a perceptual manner. One of the main goals of this Meetup is to teach the artist to see the body as having architectural structure, and understanding how to translate that concept into 2 dimensional form.

Each 3 hour session can be paid for individually, and costs $35.
