Urban Peak Youth Shelter
This is a chance to help out young people in need -- and have fun in the kitchen together!
Urban Peak is is a nonprofit organization that helps young people in the Denver area overcome homelessness and other real-life challenges to become self-reliant adults. The first Saturday of every month, we cooks dinner for the teens at the Urban Peak youth shelter. (We could serve anywhere from 15 to 40 young people, depending on how cold it's going to be overnight and other factors.)
We start cooking at 4:30 and serve dinner at 6:30. After all the young people have been served, we serve ourselves and eat in the dining area with them. We're typically finished by around 7:00 and go out on the town afterwards.
Each volunteer is asked to contribute $20 for groceries. Please bring $20 in cash with you to the shelter.
Last month, the menu theme was "Festival of Fajitas." This month's menu is TBD -- suggestions welcome!
If you RSVP for this event, please treat it as a real commitment. We will be counting on you to help. If you have car trouble or get sick at the last minute or anything like that, please call Dan at[masked] to let him know. Thanks!
