Nestled in the Adirondack Mountains, Gore Mountain has 2,537 feet of vertical and more skiable acres than any other mountain in New York. TNA has never been there before, but we're going now!
The Plan: Leave after work on Thursday. Ski/snowboard/cross country, snowshoe or hike Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Drive back Sunday afternoon, February 12 (total 3 nights). Since this is the weekend before President's Day weekend, we are expecting very small crowds.
Downhill Ski/Snowboarding: Gore is a premier family-friendly resort in upstate New York with plenty of cruisers, steeps and glades to satisfy and level of skier or rider.
Cross-country skiing and Snowshoeing: Gore Mountain resort offers 4 beginner and 3 intermediate cross-country and snowshoe loops immediately adjacent to its downhill area.
Hiking: There are a lot of hiking trails in and around Gore. The Schaefer trail was recently renovated after Gore Mountain added their Burnt Ridge area. There are also several other nearby hiking areas including Crane Mountain and Siamese Ponds.
Lift Tickets: $167 for a 3-day pass sold at the condo front office.
Cost: $225 (plus $7 PayPal fee) for the entire long weekend includes lodging (3 nights), food and booze (Friday and Saturday Happy Hours, Saturday and Sunday dinners, Friday/Saturday/Sunday breakfasts). Lift tickets, rentals, transportation and lunches are not included. Payment deadline is January 26, 2012 (after that late payment fee of $50 will kick in). Please Paypal me directly at [masked]. You can also give me a check at the happy hour @ Gstaad on January 26th, 2012.
RSVP: Please try to RSVP only if you are firm on going. Please state your ride situation.
Lodging: We are renting two adjacent luxury townhomes with access to a community pool, game room and sauna. The rentals are 7 minutes away from the base of Gore. Priority of queen and king rooms will be given to couples. The addresses will be given to participants as we get closer to the event. You can also come just for the weekend, but the price will remain the same.
Transportation: We will carpool. Gore is a 4 hours drive from NYC. Passengers pick up all the gas/toll tabs plus other expenses like coffee, drivers (car owners, not literal drivers) go free. We still encourage helping with driving, but it won't relieve you from paying for gas/tolls - car owners are putting up some serious mileage on their cars, so this is the least we could do in return. And if you're a driver, please don't charge your passengers extra.
