2 night, 3 day backpacking trip.
We will hike out of Tuolume to Glen Aulin go past it and find a campsite (about 6 to 7 miles total that day), the next day we will day hike up to Le Conte and Wagonwheel falls and then return to our campsite for the 2nd night and on the third day hike out.
It's a small group (permit is for 3) and a scenic area so expect stops and starts for photo's and a slow steady pace on the way in so no one gets lost on the many forks of the trail.
Distance: 17 to 20 miles counting the day hike
Trailhead Elevation: 8,500 feet (2,550 meters)
Glen Aulin Elevation: 7,900 feet (2,400 meters)
Total Elevation Change: 600 feet (180 meters)
Bear Canisters are required and also it's important to keep a clean campsite in this area.
Expect to get your feet wet with many water crossings. The water should be high so use caution at all crossings.
We will meet at
TuolumneMeadowsVisitorsCenterat 9amand then hike to the trailhead so park you car and be ready to go.
You can also park along the unpaved road that leads from the trailhead lot to the stables, provided you avoid the areas marked as no parking. If the dirt road is full, which I've seen before, you'll have to find a spot along Tioga Road.
If you're approaching from the the east, you'll find Tuolumne Meadows just under 8 miles (13 km) west of the Tioga entrance.
If you're coming from Yosemite Valley, follow highway 120 for 10 miles (16.8 km) up out of the valley to the Crane Flat intersection with Tioga Road, then take the Tioga Road 38 miles (61 km) east to reach the meadows
