Grand Canyon of Tuolumne, Loop in and out from Tuolumne Meadows

2 nights Glen Aulin. Meet at the Rangers Station. (Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center)

So if the Tioga Road reopens we will go to Glen Aulin as planned.

We will hike out of Tuolume to Glen Aulin go past it and find a campsite (about 6 to 7 miles total that day),Day 2 day hike down the canyon and explore the falls: Californina , Le Conte and Wagonwheel falls before returning to camp.

Monday hike out to the cars the same way we came in.

I have 2 permits and we should be able to pick up a few walk-in permits. It will be cold at night (30 degrees or so). It snowed 1/2 an inch or so today but most of that should melt off before our trip.

Glen Aulin Elevation: 7,900 feet (2,400 meters)
Total Elevation Change: 600 feet (180 meters)

Bear Canisters are required and also it's important to keep a clean campsite in this area.

Expect a few water crossings.

It's supposed to warm up toward the end of the week and they were predicting 1/2 of snow but if it dumps more, than I will reroute the trip to Chilnualna Falls at 6000 feet or we could also camp lower if need be.

Everything I see on the internets says 120 is back open now...

I have a small group that was initially trying to do the entire GCT but the water is too strong right now. This seems like a good alternative. Maybe we'll connect with you guys!

Ryan, I'm curious what beta you have about the water being too strong. I ran this as a BAMM trip last year and only encountered mid-calf crossings a Morrison and Rodgers.

(Arun is probably e-mailing you this same question, too.)

We were planning to do White Wolf to Tuolumne. Either way, the ranger I talked to on Tuesday said there are multiple dangerous crossing right now due to heavy melt.
