I have 3 available spots on my permit for Rae Lakes Loop starting from Bubbs Creek from June 22 to 28.
The plan will be to get to Cedar Grove on the 21st and camp in one of the campgrounds there for the night. Start out on the morning of the 22nd. Spend 7 days / 6 nights on the trail. The loop itself is 42 miles, and we will try to do some side trips: Sixty Lakes Basin, Lake Reflection, etc. Get back to where we started from by the 28th and head home.
Glen Pass (approx 12000') is currently covered in snow. We will have to look at the trail conditions before we start and evaluate our plans so please be flexible.
There are plenty of fishing opportunities so bring your fishing gear! Bear cannisters are required. Look here for other details:
This is not a good first or second trip. You really need to have your gear well worked out. Don't be fooled by the low miles since 1) thats just the main loop, and we will certainly do a couple of side trips off of it and cover about 10 mi / day on average, and 2) we will climb from 5000' to 12000' and back again, not counting the side trips.
I'm going to setup a waiting list and will do a lottery if I get more than 4 people interested.
