Off-trail to Nelson and Reymann Lakes from Tuolumne Meadows.

I have four places up for grabs on a two-day trip from Tuolumne Meadows to Nelson Lake and Reymann Lake, returning via Johnson Peak. Total group size is limited to seven.

This is a less-visited part of Yosemite with spectacular scenery. Most of this trip will be off-trail. It will be strenuous in parts and will involve some rock scrambling. So you will need some prior backpacking experience. Total distance: 11 Miles, with a total elevation gain of 3300 ft.

We will drive up to Tuolumne Meadows on Saturday (perhaps head up Lembert Done on Saturday afternoon) stay Saturday night at the backpackers’ campground and then start hiking on Sunday morning, returning to Tuolumne Meadows on Monday afternoon.

Assuming that more than four people respond, everyone will be on the wait list initially and I will run a lottery on August 21 and will then ask the winners to send a $20 deposit to secure a place. The balance will be returned at the trailhead minus the permit cost. Please don’t take a place unless you are sure you can join us. Once I have a list of confirmed participants, we will sort out details of transport, bear cans, stoves, etc.

Just a thought....permits r free u get them at ranger stations the morning of or night before. Theres no need to get permits reserved (cost $) Your paying for something that u dont need to pay for. Didnt know if u knew this? Im thrifty always finding ways to save money. Hope u dont mind just putting it out there.
