Northern CA backpacking

Hello -

I'm interested in backpacking more in the Trinity Alps / Shasta / Lassen / Klamath region of Northern California. I would love recommendations of backpacking trips (2 to 10 day trips) anywhere in that region. Anyone been to Modoc National Forest or Six Rivers? Or Southern Oregon (Winema, Fremont, Rogue River National Forests)?

Thanks!

Canyon Creek Lakes is a nice out and back backpack (1-3 nights) up into a high-alpine granite bowl with a steep rim on all sides. Besides the two Canyon Creek lakes, there are the Boulder lakes off to the side, and Little Lake and Kalmia Lake, both perched up even higher.

2-3 day trips in the Trinity Alps:
- Canyon Creek Lakes (as mentioned by Stu): nice swimming holes, several side trips to other lakes.
- Caribou Lakes (amazing views from Sawtooth Ridge): beautiful lakes. Much less crowded than Canyon Creek Lakes, probably because it is a long drive to the trailhead. The campground at the trailhead was not full during the Labor Day weekend.

Marble Mountain Wilderness: the most popular destination is Sky High Lakes. You can do a loop coming back by the adjacent valley (Red Rock Valley, I think?). Nice views from Marble ridge/rim. I don't remember the lakes being good for swimming. It is hot in summer.

Lassen NP: 2-3 day loop from Butte Lake Trailhead. Nice campsites around Snag Lakes, Horsehoe Lake, Rainbow Lake. Mainly forest. No views, except from the top of Cinder Cone. Low elevation change. Walking on ashes/sand with a backpack slowed us down.

I'd like to do a 3-5 day trip in Trinity Alps/Marble Mountains. I had another trip planned for next weekend that just got cancelled, so if anyone is interested in throwing something together, shoot me a message. I've got a decent book that outlines some of the trips other posters have mentioned :

The trip I described earlier has just become reality. It's posted as a Meetup on BAMM. Anyone interested... have a look.
