Points of View Photography @ BL
This meetup is a FREE expert-led, guided tour around the photographs from the British Library’s unique collections, examining the development of the medium and its lasting influence.
A fabulous opportunity to learn from the professionals, we will spend an hour examining 'Who was taking the photograph and why?'.
Section by section, we will view items presented within their cultural context to explore some of the major themes of the 19th century – from expansion to industrialisation, science, and the rapid changes taking place in society.
The final section reveals how technology responded to the demands of a developing mass market for photography, which continues to the present day. Read more on the BL website.
Ticket Details
This meetup is free although I do need definite numbers 2 weeks in advance, to guarantee us a FREE guided tour with Marco, a professional photographer. So please only RSVP 'yes' if you are sure you can make it. After the guided talk at 1:30, which lasts an hour, we will have a break in the cafe.
Venue & Contact Details
We will meet inside the Library at 1:15 at the front desk for a prompt start at 1:30. Please give Natalie a call on 07773 819053 if running late or you're lost. The library is a short walking distance from Kings Cross and Euston tubes.
A google map of the library is provided!
Thanks to all those that came along to the tour. It was lovely to see both new and regular faces. Great conversation with Peter, Alex, Jose, Licia & Shayna afterwards in the cafe. Am still gathering my photo thoughts today!
Ditto Natalie! Marcus is very knowledgeable and thought provoking. I wouldn't have seen the exhibition in that way without him and the conversations afterwards are always inspiring and too short! Thank you Natalie for continuing to organize such wonderful events and Happy Holidays y'all.

Hi Moneypenny2k, this will be indoors and looking at photos, so unless you want to take pictures before or after the exhibition you won't need your camera. Natalie
