GPS peeps! miss darcy has left the building & is en route to Central Park: 219 So. Fair Oaks Blvd. Pasadena, 91105. Thanksgiving is the last Thursday in November this year: Nov. 28th. Note:[masked]: Game on, ladies! See you @ the Park! Memo from Union and driving miss darcy's research indicate there will be showers TK evening, which will not affect our service. In the event of rain early TK day, our event is cancelled. Early Thursday AM, I'll send our particpants a thumbs up or no-go message. Blessings and thank-you to all.
This will be our 7th Thanksgiving working with Union Station to feed hearty turkey lunches to those less fortunate. Last year, that number swelled to over 3,000 guests! Giving divas like us and Union Station can handle 20-30 volunteers.
Update, November 13: I did negotiate for our wonderful ladies to work one of (2) shifts, as part of the "food drop-off crew." Let me know which of the (2) shifts best fits. Shift 1 arrives @ appx 8:40 ish AM--we get signed in and situated, ready for the early shift 9 AM-11 AM. Shift 2 arrives appx. 10:45ish, to work their (later) shift: 11AM- 1PM. Spreading joy is our mission, spending time amongst ourseves and the anticpated 3,000 guests will be our reward.
We're picking up non-perishables from the drive-by generous donors; while others attempt to keep the drop off tables from collapsing, and using our i-Pads and GPS devices, : + ) organize some terrific plan of where meal items will be placed until lunch. Or, we divas do what Union mucky mucks tell us to do. Serve where needed.
