Come enjoy a fun, dynamic creative writing workshop that will ignite your creative juices and inspire you to write, write, write.
Beth Johnson, a trained AWA Affiliate, facilitates all workshops.
In each writing workshop, you will enjoy:
–A comfortable, quiet place to sit and write
–Writing prompts intended to jump start fresh, new, first-draft writing
–A writing environment where everyone can feel safe and respected
–Inspiration to look deeply and write about what matters to you
What to Expect
–A typical two hour workshop will include two twenty-minute writing periods.
–If you choose to, you can read your writing out loud. Reading is optional; anyone may pass at anytime.
–When writing is read aloud, we respond very specifically, only with: what we like, what we remember, what is strong. We respond to fresh, first drafts only with praise, no critical feedback. This builds trust and self confidence and helps us grow as writers and human beings.
–Everything shared in the workshop is confidential.
Workshops follow the Amherst Writers and Artist’s Method (AWA)
The method affirms that:
everyone has a strong, unique voice
everyone is born with creative genius
writing as an artform belongs to all people
the teaching of craft can be done without damage to a writer's original voice or artistic self-esteem
a writer is someone who writes
