C'mon out & join the fun this Sunday at 10:45am for some Beginner Geo-Caching! At last count, 22 people from the People Doing Stuff Group have RSVP'd. BTW, this is more suited to an adults only event as there is some heavy brush in some areas to walk thru. Dress for the woods!
When: Sunday, September 18, 2011, 10:45 AM
1200 Alimagnet Park Drive, Burnsville, MN (map)
We're going to start in a smaller park and test our skills. If we get the hang of it, we'll schedule the next geocaching event with a little more hiking/adventure involved.
If you have a handheld GPS, please bring it. Otherwise Ron, our tech expert, will have us covered.
Following our expedition, we'll grab some ice cream at a TBD locale and discuss our next adventure.
For those not in the know, Geocaching is an outdoor sporting activity in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook where the geocacher enters the date they found it and signs it with their established code name. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers (tupperware or similar) or ammo boxes can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value."
Hope to see yah there!
