How to build a large community that will grow your business, by Iman Aghay

• We all go to meetups, but have you ever thought to run your own meetup?

• Do you want to know how you can make it a success?

• Do you want to know how you can use your meetup to grow your business?

Come and join us on May 13 and learn from Iman Aghay, the founder of the largest business meetup in Canada, how to build an active, fast growing community and use it to grow your business. You've probably been to many meetups and networking events, now come and see behind the scenes of running a successful networking group.

In this presentation you will learn:

• 3 main rules of building a successful community

• Dos and don'ts of community building

• How to use the community to grow your business.

Iman landed in Vancouver 5 years ago not being able to speak English properly and without any friends or network. In 2010 Iman founded Vancouver Business Network Meetup group and today VBN is recognized as the largest business meetup in Canada with over 4,000 members.

Beside Vancouver Business Network, Iman is the founder of Edmonton Business Network, one of the main sponsors of Calgary Business Network and his students have founded communities around the world such as Comox Valley Healthy Living Experts Forum in BC, Toronto Green Business Network in Ontario and Perth Business Zone in Australia and many more.

Iman’s passion is helping entrepreneurs to succeed. This led to Iman winning the people's choice award for being one of the top 25 immigrants in Canada, along with Peter Legge, the media mogul, Robert Herjavec, the ‘nice’ Dragon on Dragons’ Den and John Furlong, the CEO of the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

The doors will open at 5:45pm. Informal networking takes place from 5:45pm to 6:15pm. The formal part of the meeting begins sharp at 6:15pm. The keynote speaker takes the stage at 6:45pm. Then there's speed networking from 7:45pm to 8:45pm.

Iman wanted to say more than time allowed. He pleaded with Roger for 5 more minutes. Coincidentally, Iman believes that well-run groups retain followers by keeping to a structure. Roger kept things on time and at the close you could see the mutual admiration between VBN's founder and co-organizer superstars.
