Burger Wellington voting

This was a big hit last year, so we'll do it again: It's the Burger Crawl. Each participating eatery has its own special burger that they're putting it forward as part of this event.

We'll start at noon at Public, testing the special burger there. Then, we'll split into groups and disperse, each group trying the special burger at two or three other places. (Sharing of burgers is definitely encouraged.)

Each group will have a checklist with rankings, so we can assess the texture of the burger, the atmosphere of the eatery, etc. All eateries will be in the Wellington CBD, so it will be easy enough to get to three (at the most), even if the weather turns nasty.

We'll follow it all up with a rendezvous at 2.00 pm at the Southern Cross, to compare notes and vote on who has the best Burger Wellington. (This would, of course, be a good opportunity to have yet another burger or perhaps some dessert to top it all off.)

Note: Not a whole lot of veggie options, sorry! But, not every special burger is beef, either. Some places offer pork, chicken, venison, or fish.

Have a look at the Burger Wellington website.

If you're running late on the day, TXT me on [masked].

Cheers, Dave

Had a great time - and had great burgers! Everyone loved the Ostrich burger. :)

Our overwhelming favourite was the Ostrich Burger from 180, the restaurant in the Copthorne Hotel on Oriental Parade. We also liked the Cross Porker from Southern Cross and the Public (beef) Burger from Public, on Courtenay Place.

I'm going for a run beforehand, and I don't think I'll be there for 12, but I'll try and catch up before you're all finished. See you tomorrow...

So many burgers, so little time!
I wonder if we should do this over 2 days?

Maybe we should also organise a veggie curry crawl for the vegetarians; burgers are really meat/fish-eaters territory if you want the diversity.

For this maybe it could be organised with teams by theme: ie have a team tasting fish burgers only, etc. This would help supporting the non meat-eaters in the group, and also anyone who has allergies/intolerances or any other reasons not to eat a certain type of meat. What do you think?
