This group is about empowering people to make things and think about what things to make to make life good. 3d printers are part of a paradigm shift in how we make things. It's not just that people can print their own stuff. You can do things with 3d printers that you just couldn't do before. We are only at the beginning of figuring out what the possibilities are. Personal manufacturing has huge implications for art, technology, culture and everything. As 3d printers get better we get closer to a place where we are no longer limited by ability but by creativity. And then once one person has created something everyone else gets it too. Art and invention has already exploded. What else can we be making? What else can we be making to be making? Eventually we'll have machines that can make anything. What happens when people pretty much don't have to work anymore? When you can print something that grows and maintains all of your crops? When you can print a device that will prepare your food for you? What happens when everything that could ever do anything becomes available to everyone equally? Will we focus on making beauty? On perfecting, not the ability to make things, but the art of living? We're not there yet. We're not even close. But we're on the right path.
