Return of the MegaMeetup for 2011?!

Hey folks,

I have been talking with several of you and there seemed to be a pretty good feeling about the Mega Meetup and doing another one next February. So I am looking for feedback, ideas and comments for doing the next one.

Some Data:
Location: we maxed out the hotel we used and will probably need a new location.

Attendance: I think the official count was 82 counting helpers and players.

Audience/event: Basically gaming only; no vendors, bands or celebs (unless they were running gamesbiggrin ),etc. Although we did have Susan and her chair massage

Duration: 1 day event on a Saturday. we went from 10:00-10:00.

GMs: we had great support from several companies and individual developers.

Food: light snacks and drinks were available throughout the day.

Prizes: we had A LOT of door prizes and game support prizes!

Specific Questions:
1. New location: what side of town is preferred for most of you E, S, N, W? right downtown?

2. Food: any interest in some type of catered lunch to maximize game time? something around $5 per person - I'm thinking of things like subs or nugget platters from Zaxby's, etc.

3. New Games/gamers: is it trying to hard if we look to set up opportunities for folks to request games that they want to learn and match them up with a leader/ex plainer prior to the meetup? Seems like one of the hardest things to do at a games library is match up some players who want to try something but need someone to take them through the first couple of rounds.

4. Wold you want any vendors?

5. Education and Games: This is something I want to see happen but not in a way that would take away from there being a good day of gaming. In short, some time and space for an Educators "workshop" that would review gaming, game types and matching them up for classroom use and lesson support. Parents would also be invited. I am working with the folks at GameCon Memphis to put this type of workshop together.

Onward,
Tony
