Road trip from Madison to Estes Park, home of the Rocky Mountain National Park, in late August. On the itinerary is climbing Longs Peak (Highest Point in the park) and Mount Elbert (Highest Point in Colorado). The Longs Peak climb is rather challenging and requires a full day of hiking. More info at: http://www.nps.gov/romo/planyourvisit/longspeak.htm
Mount Elbert reaches a higher elevation but is considered an easier hike for those in decent shape. More info: http://www.summitpost.org/mount-elbert/150325
I'm planning to camp in the park throughout the week and possibly staying in Boulder on the weekends.
I'll have room for 1-2 people in my car, if interested please read the info regarding the hikes to ensure you are up for the experience.
I'm open to visiting other parks such as Yellowstone during the trip as there should be plenty of time for adventuring!
