The SECOND Annual Anti-Social, Anti-Valentine's Day Meetup!

ALL THAT SHOVELING PAID OFF! I GOT A REALLY GREAT IDEA!!!!!!!

ELLY HAS THE BLACK BALLOON! SEE YOU ASSES - PRETTY SOON! LG

http://www.familygame...

This gaming store (non-electronic gaming) is in the Savage Mill complex. We have met at Savage Mill before to have happy hour at Rams Head Tavern, but there are all kinds of neat shops in there - antique shops, eclectic bookstores, and ever'thang.

I inquired about parking and there should be no problem, even with this ridiculous amount of snow we have experienced so - come on OUT!!!!

How about we meet at 2 or so - we can range about the place and browse in the stores for a while (I have never done this - and I have an inquiring mind so recon is absolutely necessary to appease my 'satiable curtiosity) (NO that's not misspelled, you just don't know your Rudyard Kipling and if that's someone's problem...it ain't MINE!!! Edumicate yo' bad self!)

And THEN - we can traipse our ASS selves to the Game Store. I just sent the owner a really nice email (YES, I know how!!!!) asking if we could access the game lending library and take the games to the little cafe next door. They are having a few different tournaments starting at 11 and 12, so table space MAY be a bit limited for us - as long as we eat and drink stuff in the cafe though we can sit in there and play games to our heart's content!

(Then we could always crash Rams Head Tavern, for an Anti-Valentine's Day round of imbibement)

Does this sound like a great idea or WHAT? If $$ are a little short, you don't have to order much of anything - and we usually order things and share anyhow, as many of us are very congenial ASSes. I'm excited - I wanted something worthy of you - unique, brainy, fun - and I think this fits you PERFECTLY. And you know - I DO <3 you. I'm so happy to be an ASS (well - ASSette)!

I had a great time! It was nice to meet other liked-minded people. (And it's a little scary to know that there are SO MANY like-minded people out there!) Playing the "board" game was enjoyable (there was no actual board in the game we played), and it gave me ideas of other Meetup groups I would be interested in joining. This was my first Meetup with this group, and my experience certainly makes me want to attend other Meetups with this group.

Falafel, booze, medicated/stressed block and sharing the day with my fellow ASSes and ASSettes... a totally groovy day.

  • Linda

Christine K, can't seem to find your profile icon when I edited attendance. Marty - same situation. My ASSinine attendance records indicate a total of 16 ASSes/guests. Will, your friend Mark - is he an ASS in his own right or was he your guest (what is the guest of an ASS - a Klingon? Oh I am really sorry I need to get some coffe RIGHT NOW)

Joe Joe Joe.... whatever are we going to do with you? but thanks for demonstrating yet another fine example of the pitfalls of blind faith ... google God or otherwise ...

For those of you who didn't join us.... you missed an ASSortment of ASSes getting together to figure out how to play a game that is for 6 yr olds and up. Only took us about an hour to decifer the instructions.

    February 15, 2010

  • Joe

I also googled "become one with your ass" and got zero hits.
P.S. Do you think any of us who have been to more than one event believe you will ever be on time?

    February 14, 2010

  • Joe

Oops. Do you remember the John Waters cult film Pink Flamingos. I "worked" as a student at a campus movie theatre at UMCP (many moons ago) which showed only cult type moives. It was actually a campus movie club. My job was to keep students from throwing beer bottles at the screen and from sneaking in the back door. First place I ever saw Pink Flamingo and (for you Steve) Monty Python and the Holy Grail ... also Life of Brian. Bill S. (who got me the "job") if you're out there I'm still around!

Elly - THANK YOU for getting a black balloon and being there earlier. I am going to reform myself. I'm a very determined ASSette.

    February 14, 2010

  • Linda

A wonderful assortment of ASSes and ASSettes came out in the snow to play today. LOVE my Stressed/Medicated flip sign. My students will so appreciate the heads-up! I've visions of pink plastic flamingos dancing in my head. Loved my walnut roll and falafel.

    February 14, 2010

  • Linda

Joe - um...in the...Game Store. I must acquire Trailer Park Wars. Any game which comes with 100 plastic pink flamingos has got MY attention. How about "become one with your ass"? Would that work? Yes Joe we can see everything you write.

Had an absolutely awful time .... I think I'll go play in traffic now ..... wait .... there's no traffic only freaking snow. And if you believe this rating then you'll probably believe everything else I've said recently. I did bring AM's $20 Savage Mill coupon but since she didn't show we spent it on beer.
Linda, does this feedback actually mean anything at all? Does anybody see this but you?

Next time I'll know NOT to bring any games ..............

    February 14, 2010

  • Joe

So Linda .......... where were the games?
We should have started at the Rams Head vice ending there.
Hey Maya, "Embrace your assness" I googled the phrase and got 0 hits back. If I can't google it I can't do it.

    February 14, 2010

  • Maya

Straight to first class? You mean I don't have to fisrt languish in coah or even business class? That's even better than advancing to go and collecting $200 and then getting to go again and collecting another $200! well... maybe that's over stating ...

Embrace your assness Joe. You know you want to. Blame the Indian food, pizza and beer for shrinking your laundry. They really need to be trained better in these domestic chores.

There will indeed be a BLACK BALLON. I'll probably get there a little early to puruse the stores. So if you see a black balloon floating along, that's me. :)

    February 14, 2010

  • Joe

I was going to wear the T shirt that says "Life's more fun when you're ADD". But alas, it has shrunk ... I couldn't possibly have grown at my age. [random]

    February 14, 2010

  • Joe

Wow! You actually read the dribble I post? I'm overwhelmed! You must really be an A.S.S.ette first class. I stand properly chastised!
Personally, I blame Indian food for everything ..... and beer. I blame beer too. Indian food and beer the bane of existance. And maybe pizza ... Indian food, beer, and pizza the great corrupters of man and womankind. Wait .... there's more it slices it dices it's the vegamatic. Anybody actually miss Billy Mayes?

    February 14, 2010

  • Maya

Joe! So are you insinuating that you've gone and lumped me into the "too normal to be an ASS member" contingent? If so, unlump. I refuse to give the Indian food any credit ... that's just me being me!!! You clearly need to get to know me better. ;-)

    February 14, 2010

  • Joe

Maya! What the heck did that Indian food do to you last night?? That's the most warped slide show I've watched in ...... at least a couple hours.
Lot's of good potential T-shirts in there! Much better than the 2008 presidential election shirt I have on right now. I'll have to try to do better than Moe for President.

What - me, surly? Exactly what are you inferring, there, Grumpy? LOL. Don't worry, I have been giving myself intensive chocolate therapy treatments for the past two days (1 oz/minute for 5 minutes - that equals one giant Hershey bar) and it's working. Wellllll Elly, given the propensity of some of our ASSes to be late (looking innocently skyward whilst whistling) actual gaming won't begin till 2:30 or so. I'm gonna try to get there ~ 1-ish to have time to case the joint in its entirety.

    February 12, 2010

  • Joe

Hey Patrick, If we can all show up late for the Goddard brunch .... then have such a good time that we are an hour late for the museum meetup ... we can surely show up (and be late) for this one. Hope to see you there!!! P.S. Tami, HELLO ... maybe???? I like to be invisible in crowds ...... can't be a crowd if there are five of us. Besides, I have harassed Linda I need protection!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sounds perfect to me...I will make every effort to attend...thanks for bringing this place to my attention...I love non-electronic games!!

Sounds like fun... Savage Mill is a pretty cool place. So will we be meeting a the game store or where?

    February 11, 2010

  • Joe

Great ...... I do this exact same thing in the exact same place once or twice a month with one of my gaming groups and I'll be there with them next week. And yes the owner is a good guy and yes you can borrow games. You better hope the bingo folks aren't there because it gets to be a real zoo! We could probably run them out though being A.S.S.es. Our board game group won't be there this weekend so no competition for games or space with us. So, this is my A.S.S. way of saying it sounds like fun!

    February 11, 2010

  • Linda

Like a real ASS, I'm avoiding the whole Stil issue by proposing something completely different - An afternoon of delightful board games at The Family Game Store in the beautiful Savage Mill complex down in Laurel! (Or Savage. What-EV-er!) This will be a lot of fun. There are actually a few tournaments going on that day as well - so that might be interesting to watch or, perhaps even participate in!

    February 11, 2010

  • Mark S.

True, we can always just ignore the other group.

    February 10, 2010

  • Linda

I'm much too anti-social to have a joint meetup with a group called "meet 4 fun". I don't think Chief ASS Jeff would at all condone this.

So this would be a SAASS (Second Annual Anti-Social Socialite) meet-up. How apropos.

    February 10, 2010

  • Joe

Wow, I just lost the post I was writing. Being an A.S.S. that's really annoying.

Hey Mark, I'll be meeting some of your 4Fun crew at the overlap meetup with the Annaplois foodies on Saturday night for Indian food. Assuming the vindaloo does not kill me I'd be up for a thing at Stils. That's the Irish place isn't it? I'm really trying to kill the museum thing on valentines day as it's the perfect day to be an A.S.S.

    February 9, 2010

  • Mark S.

Hey Linda, Meet For Fun, another meetup group, is having something at the Stil in Timonium, later that day. Perhaps you'll consider having a joint meetup with them.

    February 9, 2010

  • Joe

Pool & beer sound good as does bowling, laser tag, or just a happy hour thing. I'd prefer not to do a museum. I don't have much time to think up a new T-Shirt as Grumpy and the Oklahoma Cow tipping association shirts have been retired. I have a dopey dwarf shirt but I wouldn't want to invite comparisons between my mental capabilities and my shirt. Need to think up something appropriate for anti-valentine.
