The Trip To Bountiful

THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL is Horton Foote’s masterpiece about memory, mortality and the undeniable, universal yearning for home. Don’t miss this powerful show The Wall Street Journal calls, “unforgettably excellent.”

Ending a 30 year absence, celebrated actress Cecily Tyson, three-time Emmy® Award winner for “The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman” and “Oldest Confederate Widow Tells All” and Academy Award® nominee for Sounder, makes her triumphant return to Broadway in this eagerly anticipated new production, directed by the foremost interpreter of Horton Foote’s work, Michael Wilson (Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Dividing the Estate).

THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL follows Carrie Watts (Tyson), an active, highly motivated widow living in a cramped apartment in Houston in the Spring of 1953 with her son (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and daughter-in-law (Vanessa Williams) . Carrie escapes her relatives’ watchful eyes to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.

It's Restaurant Week, so if anyone is interested in taking advantage of that., here are some restaurants that are participating:
    Aureole Bar Room
    Blue Fin
    Barbetta
    Ca Va Brasserie
    Firebird
    Pigalle
    Thalia
    Tolache
    Victor's Cafe
We'd get 3 courses for $35 which is a great deal for some of these restaurants. Thoughts??

I cant make dinner. Will you still be outside the theatre with a sign?

    August 6, 2013

    • ap

Yes...those of us meeting for dinner have nothing to do with the tickets. We're just participants like you

      August 6, 2013

  • Irene

Will be there at 5pm. Looking forward to the entire evening.
    Thanks

Marilyn, I went to "Vanya, Sonya, Masha and Spike" and there were no plans to meet before-hand. I am not going to this show, but I am going to Kinky Boots. I'd like to suggest a dinner, prior to the show, so we can get to know each other.

HI everyone, I have an extra ticket if anyone is interested. At the last minute my daughter can't make it. If you're interested please contact me at [masked]!

Is that ticket still available...I'm still interested.

There are 18 spots left, why is the RSvP closed ??

    July 28, 2013

    • Dayna K.

I'm assuming they put tickets on hold but they have to give a final number and make payment by a certain date. If they buy 41 tickets and only 18 people pay, then they have to pay for 23 tickets that nobody bought, which is unfair. Whenever a new event is announced the date the RSVP closes is also announced so it is clear as to when you have to purchase your tickets by.

Can my friend Kim Barrett still buy a ticket?

It's difficult to do this in the evenings starting in the fall. Work gets in the way, unless I take off Wednesday. Sounds like a good idea! See everyone next week.

Sorry I'll miss this - but I look forward to Future Shows, when I "return" to NYC this Fall - (tried Miami for 6 years) - and I am "settled in" --

Thank you, but i've seen it already, a very good play. Cicely Tyson hasn't been on stage in 30 years. Such a wonderful play, Cicely Tyson, gives a stellar performance. Go see it.

Amazing show. Cicely Tyson is phenomenal. Sad that Condola Rashad has left the show because she is a powerhouse, perhaps we can get tickets for her next show Romeo and Juliet with Orlando Bloom, ahhh Orlando Bloom ;)
