Water by the Spoonful - Pulitzer Prize Drama in MV

A GROUNDBREAKING DRAMA - Water by the Spoonful

By Quiara Alegría Hudes

Directed by Leslie Martinson

Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts

August 20—September 14, 2014

2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama—Bay Area Premiere

In this healing, Pulitzer-winning drama, strangers share secrets in a chat room for troubled souls, a safe haven for lives in recovery. A sensitive webmaster moderates this community, but in real life her relationships crumble.

As living and virtual worlds weave together, the true meaning of family becomes apparent, proving that no one is above reproach—or beyond redemption. From the Tony Award-winning playwright of In the Heights.

Contains mature language “Moving and compelling with compassion at the heart.” Boston Globe

Hi Carol... did you see below? Deanna had a $10 ticket! The night I went, it was General Admission but I don't think TW does this all of the time now... but I always say, since you can't talk during a show anyway, sitting together really isn't as important as meeting before, after or during intermission. I think it's better when everyone gets and pays for the seat they want, are comfortable where they are seated, and enjoy the show. Having great conversations with new meetup friends about the performance and life is the icing on the cake! :0)

I was unable to secure a comp ticket for Friday and saw the show last night. It is well acted, fairly engaging and very thought provoking. The questions about addiction and drug use, our real vs. virtual selves and cyber relationships, and the vivid characters and "ghosts" that haunt all of us will stick in your mind for some time afterwards... I hope you can find each other and discuss these themes. As it turned out, one of our former members and her husband reached out to me and we enjoyed some great conversation while viewing the artwork in the lobby during intermission, and before and after the show...
