The Polish film In the Name Of comes to Outfest, the LGBT Film Festival of Los Angeles, to stir passions and ignite debates. A winner at this year's Berlinale, In the Name Of tells the story of Father Adam, a handsome Catholic priest beloved by the rural village he serves. Unflinching in his faith and direct in his approach, the priest attracts men and women alike. None of their advances appeal, however, until Lukasz comes into his life. Suddenly the priest's most deeply-held convictions come into question as Adam's lust for Lukasz turns into love. Infusing scenes with golden outdoor light, director Małgorzata Szumowska (Elles, 33 Scenes from Life) situates this story of forbidden love and public retribution in the gorgeous Polish heartland. The film is 1 hour and 45 minutes in Polish with English subtitles.
