Boca Urban Double

Is it a RIDE or is it a ROMP? It's both things! If you want to challenge yourself and climb parking garages and bridges you can go with the ROMP group. If an easier more level terrain experience is your thing you can go with the RIDE group. Now, both rides start at 7:00.change cancel Add details/images No details, yet

This great local urban bike ride is renamed the BOCA URBAN DOUBLE.

In order to meet the needs of the entire cycling community we, Peter, Becky and Ron, and Robert have blended these two wonderful and safe rides into one evening of exercise and camaraderie. All are welcome and everyone is sure to get exactly what they came out for. The course and pace are suitable for Entry level, Intermediate and Expert riders.

Ron and Robert, of Club Mud, will lead a group of urban cyclists around a challenging course that includes the Yamato overpass, a number of multi-story parking garages, fabulous neighborhoods, the FAU campus and more. This ride will cover 24+ miles and run 14-18+ mph.

Peter and Becky will lead a group of easy riders on a flat bike coarse at a moderate speed through nature trails, a boardwalk, the beach at Palmetto Pk Blvd and use the el Rio shared trail. The ride will cover approximately 16- 20 miles and go at a moderate pace 12-15 mph that suits everyone. The pace is from 12 mph to about 15 mph. We will stop about every fifteen minutes for hydration and head counting. Please don't worry about getting lost, we leave no bikers behind. In case of mechanical problems, we all help fix it:-)

Both rides will start at 7:00 PM with the target end time of 10:00. Though history has shown the a 9:30 end time happens quite often.

Our rides now includes a recently added nature trail loop very near the beginning of the ride we will wind our way through a great totally paved nature trail behind Costco.

We have purposely created a ride that will accommodate practically everyone. This ride could be considered an entry Level bike ride and a quite challenging urban romp. We can go as slow as 10 mph for brand new bikers or as fast as you can for seasoned mountain bike athletes. The basic course is primarily made up of 12 foot wide shared bike paths known as the el rio. It runs from Yamato (near Congress) all the way to FAU campus. The shortest course is only 15 miles. We take frequent breaks and the group stays together. Many people have surprised themselves at how easily the accomplished a 15 mile urban bike ride with this group. If you find that you are challenged too much, I will escort you back to the start point at what ever pace is comfortable for you.

We will have a target finish time of 10:00, but often finish earlier. There are no stretches of off-road riding. The el Rio bike path is completed and we will use it. We will travel to the beach to feel the tropical breeze, along Mizner’s brick-lined boulevard, through woods and parks. If that’s not enough variety or exercise, you can add loops, sprints and hill climb up and down the FAU parking garages.

Have a blast and don't get hurt!!! Front and rear lights are required by law and the sun will go down during the ride (in the winter the sun is down when we start). Helmets and eye protection are required by common sense and it is hoped that you do not go down during the ride:-) A spare inner tube is a big plus. Anything else that you bring is a bonus. Your own personal hydration is a must. If you have medical issues please carry info for EMT. My cell phone number is[masked]-3390. Please load it into your phone is case any problems arise. Let's all make a big effort to start on time @ 7:00.BUT if you are running a little late, please call me (Becky) at[masked] or me Peter at[masked]-0524.
