Each year, 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness.

And with the foreclosures and unemployment rates going up, the face of homelessness has changed. Families, people working minimum-wage jobs, people with multiple degrees are all homeless or don't know where their next meal will come from.

On Saturday, May 19th, The Black Dolls have been invited to join St. Luke's Episcopal Church during their monthly Feed the Homeless outreach activity.

We will meet at the church to prepare food for the homeless and then carpool to a local park to deliver a hot meal to anyone in need.

DC Dolls, I see you. I'm blown away by your ratings, your photos, your commentary your Doll love and alas, your b'huety. To each of hue, Thank you! Thank you for leading well. Thank you for being there for others. Thank you for demonstrating that my black is BHUETIFUL! Michelle, your words are my life's mantra: "If I can do my duty, as a good man ought, If I can bring back beauty, to a world up wrought, If I can spread love's message, as the Master taught, Then my living shall not be in vain."

It's always such a surreal experience going to the park to give those less fortunate a hot meal. I always find myself wondering about the people that we feed and their story. With the exception of two unruly individuals, everyone that we fed was grateful that the Black Dolls took the time out of their schedules to bring food to the park. We even had the opportunity to remind 2 little girls of their b'huety with the gift of a toy black doll! Thank you to Alicia, Aliyah, Janelle, Michelle and Stephanie for being pretty...philanthropic! I love hue Dolls! :-)

This was a great experience and it truly reminds us of our own blessings. Seeing many of the people we served yesterday, made me realize that my good days outweigh my bad days and I won't complain...Anymore

"If I can do my duty, as a good man ought,
If I can bring back beauty, to a world up wrought,
If I can spread love's message, as the Master taught,
Then my living shall not be in vain." As always feeding the homeless is rewarding and reminds us all to be grateful for all that God has blessed us with. The lyrics above popped in my head yesterday and is on my heart today. Thanks BDA for reminding me to spread love's message as the Master taught.

Dolls, I look forward to seeing hue all tomorrow! If you are driving, please park in the rear parking lot! Just turn into the driveway between the church and the parking lot at the corner of 15th and P Streets NW and drive through the alley to the lot behind the church! Please don't hesitate to call me -[masked] - if you have any questions!
