If you're a Community Doll, until you become a Black Doll, please refrain from placing YES RSVP's for offline Affairs. Your RSVP will be removed if records indicate you're a Community Doll on board The Black Doll Affair Movement for ONLY online Black Doll Affairs. To join your Doll sisters in the community & represent as a Black Doll off-line, remember the slogan of BDA is: "No membership fee, just get a Black Doll Tee." First, we'll meet for drinks and a bite to eat at:
1242 Glenwood Avenue SE
Atlanta, GA 30316
Second, we'll dance the night away at MJQ Concourse for an underground dance party like no other!
(Right of Ponce De Leon Avenue NE, just behind the Chipotle)
About MJQ Concourse: Self-proclaimed as "The greatest subterranean discotheque in all the land, " MJQ is unlike any other club in Atlanta. The atmosphere is very similar to a house party. Everyone is there to DANCE and have a good time. The music is mostly hip-hop mixed with a little disco, 80s pop, Old School R&B/Soul, house and, occasionally, rock.
Never been to MJQ Concourse on a Friday night?
Well, there will be a little of this:
Some of this...
And a whole lot of that:
What hue need to know about MJQ:
MJQ Concourse is a 21+ venue.
Cash ONLY Bars...straight cash, homie!
There is an ATM inside, but it's gonna cost hue!
$5 or $10 depending on what time hue arrive.
There is a free parking lot off of Ponce De Leon Avenue (across from Green's Packgage Store,) but it fills up quickly and is shared by other businesses. There is also a $7-$10 pay parking lot located on the left, directly across from MJQ, on Ponce De Leon Place. You can also find free street parking in the neighborhoods surrounding MJQ. Please note: Some people take the risk and park in the Kroger parking lot on Ponce De Leon Avenue. However, by parking in the Kroger lot, you risk being ticketed, booted or towed.
Your Black Doll Tshirt and something else cute! There is no dress code in MJQ. It's suggested to wear comfortable shoes. The entrance into the underground club can be best described as a sloped driveway and can be tricky to walk down.
Please be advised that MJQ is smoky. You will most likely smell like smoke when you leave. It also can get pretty hot on the dance floor in the front room at MJQ. So there is a good chance that you will sweat, especially if you have boogie fever! The back room is often times cooler, but it is much smaller and has different music.
In other words, what to wear & what to bring.
"Be a Doll:" by wearing any one of your Black Doll Public Appearance T-shirts. Combine with pants, jeans, leggings, skirts or shorts of any color, b'huetiful face, gorgeous hair, loving energy attitude! "Give a doll:" When hue arrive, during Black Doll "Be a Doll, give a Doll Roll Call," your Ambassadoll will ask, "Paper or Plastic?" When she does, please give her your pretty...philanthropic donation of a toy black doll - any kind of brand new doll is acceptable - Or, make a $5 Paper Doll Donation on the spot. Paper Dolls go towards keeping our movement fueled. Or for your convenience, before you arrive, you can make a Paper Doll Donation online in The Black Doll Affair Store here.
