One of my instructors is going to be passing through Lebanon, NJ on her way back home from doing some instruction in PA on 8/17/13. Karen Knight (karenknight.com) who in my opinion is one of the best in the world (ok, I'm biased as she's a very good friend) . Would you like some help for the rescue skills meet up? She's looking to break up her drive on the way back to MD.
Meri: I have a general question about the group. I see a lot of activity, but I don't own my own kayak gear. I do have my own PFD - but would need to rent. I never see postings about rental options. Is this group mostly for boat owners? If so, I would definitely need to keep an eye out for buying. But in the meantime, I can't attend most events. I'm just trying to clarify what the expectations are so I can plan accordingly.
I work at the D&R Canal State Park (Bulls Island). I wanted to give you a heads up that there is now a boat launch permit required for access to Kingwood, Byram, Bulls Island, and Firemans Eddy. Here is a link for more info. You can get the permits at Bulls Island Office.
The boat launch at Lambertville is still free. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Hi Meri: I've been trying to send you a contact email, but it's not permitting me to put anything in the subject line. I was wondering if you will be scheduling any beginner paddle lessons. I'm a newbie having only kayaked a few times, but it's something I really enjoyed. I'd really like to get into the sport and learn more about it. Thank you.
You have some beautiful, scenic pics! :)
Hi Meri, this group has visited most of the places in NJ that
I have been wanting to paddle for years, I wish I had known about DVK before. I live in Brick, near Havens cove, its an excellent place to launch for a paddle on Barnegate bay, near Mantoloking bridge. We have a very diverse marine population and migrating birds. Hope to meet you soon. -Mark
Hi Meri, There is a new kayak dock that was put in this winter on rt 540 right outside of Pennsville. I explored it a little last night but ran out of time. Was wondering if it might be a possible paddle trip or use for any other activities. Parking lot is really nice. The water crosses under Hawks Bridge. I am curious to know where it leads.
