I am sad to say that due to other obligations Meri and Hack have decided not to be the organizers of the DVK any longer. However, I have proudly taken over the mantle and will do everything in my power to return the DVK to it’s active, fun and safe group it had always been, with a core of leaders you can count on and trust to always have the members best interests at heart. That being said, there will be some changes. A group of almost 2,000 interested would be paddlers is unmanageable. I will be culling down the membership and asking you that if you truly want to paddle with us, please rejoin. I am also going to institute a cap on how many members we can have. I know in the beginning we wanted to grow our membership……we actively recruited people to join. But, alas, it did not work out the way we hoped. We lost our core, we lost our team of organizers to the point they could not function in a fun and safe way. It is with that, and more that I assume the organizer role here at the DVK and hope that you will understand, co-operate and enjoy the kind of group that I came to know and love like family.
It is with an open heart and water beneath me that I invite those who love kayaking as much as I do to embrace the DVK again. And, it is with gratitude and humility that I thank Meri, Hack, Fluff Daddy, Dave, Beaver-Bait, Cory, Boy and all the others I’ve neglected to name who originally rebuilt this group sometime ago. I can only hope to do as well as they do, and rest assured, I will be asking for your help going forward.
Thank you and I hope to see you on the water soon,
Fair skies and calm seas, Scott Edwards Organizer, DVK
