Beltane Open Ritual & Potluck

  • May 3, 2014 · 2:00 PM

Come celebrate the height of spring with The Firefly House! As one of the two most important celebrations on the Wiccan calender, Beltane observes the explosion of fertile power across the Earth and the holy union of opposites. On this day we celebrate our disparate parts and align them to oneness. The light joins with the dark in a sacred dance the kiss of their merging brings forth life anew.

As usual, we'll begin with snacking on potluck foods and fellowship. Ritual will begin about an hour after gathering time (maypole dance included!), and then the main feasting will gather.

This gathering will be hosted at Firefly initiate Elizabeth's lovely home, which is right off metro on the red line in easy walking distance.

Bring a potluck dish to share and wear ritual attire or street clothes, if that is your will.

Coven of the Spiral Moon will be selling our handmade candles and other crafts to assist with offsetting organizational costs for the year. Support Firefly and get some yummy magickal goods in the proccess- everyone wins! :)

Volunteers to help clean the space at the end are most welcome and appreciated.

Thanks so much for coming, everyone! It was such a joy making new friends and connecting with old ones. I do hope everyone can join us for the many upcoming spring events, leading into our next sabbat gathering, which will be for Midsummer next month.

    Bright blessings!
    David

It was fantastic! Everyone there made me feel really welcome, and I made several new friends. The Beltane Ritual was fun for me too, and I have never seen a real maypole before, except for in photos or on tv. Even though I was the only Magician there, I still felt I was among "family".

For reasons I don't have enough characters here to write had to depart early and so sorry not to say goodbye... Great seeing all the new faces and familiar ones too!

Hope the moderators don't mind this request.

For the potluck, anyone who can, could you possibly label your dish with its ingredients so that people with allergies (like, to coconut... etc) can avoid stumbling into danger? Thank you!!! :-)

Great idea. I would like this for myself too. All you need is an index card with ingredients written in it.

    ***SUGGESTION FOR POTLUCK DISH***
How about bringing a dish made of a local and in-season item?
I think there's no better way to honor Gaia than to eat the things she's growing at the moment

If you need ideas, let me know!

For example, if you need low-cost options...
FOR FREE right from your very own lawn,
IF you can source clean dandelions that are at least 30-50ft from a street and thus away from pollution of street and from a lawn with no pesticides...
You can make fritters with dandelion flowers!
      Yes, fritters with the flowers.
Just bread them with a whole grain flour + egg mixture and lightly pan fry them with coconut oil.
Serve over a bed of the dandelion leaf greens and other mixed greens. Violets are edible too. They have lots of vitamin C. And red clovers... They are edible and make amazing blood cleaning tea.
Plantain leaves also grow wild in many lawns...
Again, just MAKE SURE they are away from streets and grown from lawns without pesticides.
      There's food all around!
Also in-season now are sprouts and many, many other greens...
      Yay Spring!

My landlord just yesterday gave short notice of a block party going on for my block on this day, also starting at 2:00. If you can't park on my end of Fern, you can park on the other side of the intersection of Fern and Blair. There will still be anole street parking. Feel free to call me if you have any issue[masked]

Reminder every one... There's no visible number on my house. It's the 2 nd on left once on Fern. House is a yellowish cream color with teal porch.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
