Hi Functional Programming Fans: It's time to realize the next element of this sequence, and have a fresh meetup of the Functional Club. :)
Since it's been a while and our backgrounds are varied/unknown, the following agenda is proposed:
1. Discussion: what is functional programming, and how to learn and use it? As a group, we'll list concepts and techniques in a shared gdoc, and discuss why FP is worthwhile, what people know, and how to best learn it. From referential transparency and pure functions, to map and reduce, to the lambda calculus, monads, and category theory - let's clarify the ontology of FP and start sharing resources and stories about using FP to create better software.
2. Talks - TBD!
We're happy to have support from MSVentures, and involvement from Berlin's Haskell Meetup, Strange Group, and Hacker Retreat.
