"If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." - Isaac Newton
Ideas Are Important. Wait, ideas are not just important, Ideas Are Paramount! So much so that religions, governments, and, yes, economic systems, die out and are thrown into the dumpster of history because enough people stopped believing in the ideas those institutions were based upon.
The ideas of Austrian Economics are rooted in a theory of Human Action, or praxeology. But there are other ideas, other theories. Which ideas humanity chooses to believe will have a profound effect on our future.
Will humanity continue down the path of totalitarianism, egalitarianism, the believe in perfectionism and static equilibrium, progressiveism, and socialized, centralized economic planning? We do not know, because history, and the future, is not inevitable or preordained. In fact, we can see from history that many currently accepted ideas are the result of great philosophical struggles, and unexpected and unforeseen occurrences.
See you tonight then, where I will tell you A Tale Of A Tub.
