Sunset Jan. 1, 2006 on Sales & Use Tax Exemption for Film Industry by Governor

"Also, it is important to note that on January 1, 2006, the Sales & Use Tax Exemption will sunset. It will no longer be part of Louisianas incentive package." -- Governor's Office of Film & Television; Governor Kathleen Blanco

This is the sunset that needs to be removed. This sunset will make a difference. A group of us in interest of preserving something that works (Rep. Steve Scalise's 2003 law) will be getting together with a couple of legislators and some producers to see that this sunset gets removed. In the meantime, everyone-all film and music industry producers need to get their applications for the incentives and credits in before this coming December 31, 2005, really Friday Dec. 30th.

This sunset is significant and can be rather potent. Polish the wheels yes, but don't reinvent the wheel, when it has worked so beautifully. When this sunset is removed, this legislation will be a masterpiece and will be the best it ever was and the best in the nation.

However the rest of the work she has done is remarkable to protect those at home and adding the recording industry and music industry, but don't ruin something good with this sunset.

We will let you know as to activities and the legislative and political process as it goes on. We have til March to prepare for the upcoming Regular Session which is supposed to begin at end of March, say March 27th.
