December's meeting was a cracker! At times I wondered if I'd stumbled into the Steinbeck Appreciation Society, the great man impaling us with his gravitas. In spite of bringing what I thought were two excellent nominations, the vote for the book for our February meeting was won at a stroll by Yann Martel's Life of Pi. Andrey Kurkov's quirky satirical novel Death and the Penguin is our focus of discussion for January, and will be at Brasserie Zedal, which I've chosen as it's a great restaurant serving excellent traditional French food at very affordable very affordable prices - follow the link below for the TimeOut review.
