FRENCH QUARTER DRUMMING IS A GO! I REPEAT, FRENCH QUARTER DRUMMING IS A GO!
Hi there guys! Operation "Santa, Get Your Drum" is underway! I went to the Vieux Carre Commission/French Market Corporate Headquarters this morning, and acquired a performance permit for NOLA Rhythm Drum Circle to perform in the Quarter. This is a permanent permit, but I must be present with the permit before anyone can start drumming. We can only drum in areas between Jackson Square and the end of the French Market (meaning no drumming around the Bienville statue), but we have also been given license to perform at a small ampitheatre with a stage and roof (in case it rains). We are also allowed to put a tip basket in front of us (in case we want to raise money for something), but cannot solicit funds.
So, my intention tomorrow is to have us drum at the Jackson Artillery Park (the official name for that set of stairs between Jackson Square and the levee). THAT IS WHERE WE WILL MEET TOMORROW, NOT IN FRONT OF ST. LOUIS CATHEDRAL. REMEMBER TO CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST OR ARE LATE...504-621-0274. Performance locations are on a first come, first served basis... meaning, if the artillery park is occupied when we get there, we will walk to another location.
Please come out and get jiggy with us... I have had an incredibly crappy week, so I want to beat the shit out of a drum. If you feel my pain, come join us!!
