Announcing a new Meetup for NOLA Rhythm Drum Circle!

What: Mutiny on the Bounty Drum Circle

When: Wednesday, April 28,[masked]:00 PM

City Park, NOMA
1 Lelong Drive
New Orleans, LA 70119

On this day in 1789, eighteen mutineers set Captain William Bligh of the HMS Bounty and those loyal to him in a small boat to float adrift while they stole his ship to settle on various Pacific islands with Tahitians they had befriended. Apparently, the captain was very cruel to them, which precipitated their mutiny.

BOO BLIGH. YAY, MUTINEERS (their descendants still live on Pitcairn Island and Tahiti)! Let's drum to celebrate the courage of the mutineers, the forthrightness of their actions (instead of just killing the captain), and their forethought at choosing a simple and wonderful life in the Caribbean versus sailing around with an A-hole captain finding cheap and crappy plants for West Indies slaves to eat. Screw your breadfruit, but yay for drumming.

As always, we will meet in City Park to the right side of the New Orleans Museum of Art, by the pond. Look for a fountain shooting up or a large piece of art that looks like a bunch of colorful boxes stacked in the shape of an arch. We're around there.

Ty will be unable to attend, so Jared will be leading the circle. Bring a blanket or chair, and it doesn't hurt to have some bug spray around.
