  • Hi guys, thank you for taking the time and energy to help the River Rats pull off this event. As many of you may have already read, we've gotten the attention of Children's Hospital and Kayak for a Cure's founder Ken Murdock with regards to this event; and are wanting to assist in it's planning.

Therefore, we're going to reconvene this coming Sunday at Stephens house, to decide our plan of action. If you cannot be there but would still like to contribute, please let us know. I had sent out a general letter this afternoon that will outline the responsibilities that are at hand. If anyone can think of anything that we'll need to add or omit, please speak up.

Stephen has created a organizational guideline from Saturday's meeting notes. However, I cannot upload it within Meetup, so if you want a copy before this Sunday, email me at [masked]

Guys, I've not heard a thing all week from our host, Stephen, therefore I'm going to cancel this meetup. Sorry for any inconvenience.

More good news! This is from Tri-State Kayakers: Absolutely!!! That sounds so fun! If you haven't chosen a charity yet, please look at where we teach veterans and active duty personnel to kayak for recreational therapy. Our local chapter also has a private facebook site. Search "TRR Cincinnati" and join to see what we do. There are also Kent and Toledo TRR chapters in Ohio but national Team River Runner handles all donations and charitable events (they'd send you banners, t-shirts, brochures etc). Just let us know the details and we'll post on both the TSK and TRR sites.

Ken from "Kayak for a Cure" called me this evening and provided me/us insight as to what/when and how we need to proceed from here; including an event name change. He suggested something the masses could relate to and not just the few who get it (Boats N' Snows). We also talked about a collaboration of events between ours and theirs. Having a winter event and summer as they do now. With that I came up with "Extreme Kayaking for a Cure-Winter Challenge". What does everyone think??? In exchange for sponsorship they have a software that will allow us to take donations as well as turnkey fundraising opportunities. Any and all input is welcomed.

Much better. The name never jived with me, but as a low budget-just amongst ourselves sort of thing, it was fine. If "business" is getting involved, it needs to be much more professional, the new name is.

That's what Ken was saying. If we want this to be a long term event, we need something more marketable. He even mentioned being able to franchise the name.
