Jason,
Great points! thanks for your thoughtful response, too! There is a game cafe in Ballard, called Cafe Mox,
where a group could gather for geeky games Saturday afternoons. (or whenever) And Meetup is Chock-a-block full of groups
who play games around Seattle. There is also Ray Gun Lounge on Capitol Hill.  Ballard is a great neighborhood! I loved living there!
What time and place would work for yourself and maybe Peter to meet to help myself and whoever else wants to come to organize?
Do you guys think you can make it to the Coffee Meetup in late january? A couple of us are meeting then to put some things together.
And yes, I agree with going outside of ones' own neighborhood to broaden your horizons. No pain, no gain.

and of course, ladies are more than welcome! Where would we be with out our girlfriends?
thanks for the constructive suggestions!

A lot of good info is passing around.  I'd be willing to help with the
organizing that Peter mentioned, to the extent I can.  I'm still new to the
area, so I'd need to work with someone who knows Seattle.  I agree that
Rick's comments are on the mark.  Organisers should use the points he made.

I'm 38.  I moved to Ballard in September from the DC area.  I work in
Everett, so commuting after work can be tricky.

-- I don't drink, so bars are of no interest.  It would be good to have
events away from bars, which aren't conducive to chatting and meeting folks
without having to scream over music or other chatter.  Coffee houses are
cool, and Seattle certainly isn't lacking in options on that front.  Some
tend to be cramped, so we'd have to select well for a group to mingle
around.

-- I have no problem driving to Kirkland or Lynnwood or wherever to meet
folks.  I can take folks with me if someone needs a ride.  Carpooling is
also a good way to get to know people and it's green at the same time!  I
agree with a few people in the thread who said that having everything in
Belltown and Capitol Hill gets annoying.  Both areas are hard to find
parking, and everything is very congested.  Buses are great when commuting
to work, but not as much so for social events.  It would be good to rotate
the location so everyone gets a chance to be close.  Would Kenmore or
Bothell be central enough for those of us not in Cap Hill?

-- I always enjoy games.  A good round of cards is always a nice forum to
get people talking.  Perhaps a bowling night would be good for meeting
people?  Mini golf?

-- I'm cool with lesbians, but obviously, I have greater interest in meeting
guys, so I can potentially meet someone.  When I find Mr. Right, we even
have the right to get married now!  ;-)  Hooray for Washington!

-- Perhaps we could take a survey.  Who are you?  Where are you?  How old
are you?  Who are you looking to meet?
