Second Harvest North Florida

Do you have a passion for feeding the hungry? For sustaining a life? On our Sharing Floor we sort, stock, and package food. Volunteers assist struggling families by sorting, stocking, and packing food for distribution to struggling families in our community. Volunteers can expect to be sorting food to identify the food we can keep from the food we can't, categorizing food, creating a family box of food to feed a family of 4, bagging up food for families in need, and boxing up like items of food for local homeless shelters. This opportunity provides a great team building experience for any GROUP! Our food for sharing opportunity is great for large groups, families, individuals and children as young as 12. Specific tasks completed on our Sharing Floor: • Family Boxes (a box of food to feed a family of 4 for 2-3 days) • Like item meat boxes (distributed to feeding sites providing an important nutritional benefit to individuals in need) • Sorting food (sorting and categorizing donations to insure everything is safe and organized) • Stocking shelves (to prepare for our Sharing Floor where other not for profit agencies shop for those in need) Required: • Close toed shoes must be worn in our warehouse. • All volunteers much be at least 12 years of age.
