TempleCon 2014

http://templecon.org/14/

From the humble beginnings of TempleCon, Tabletop Gaming has been the primary reason for thousands of gamers to descend on Rhode Island from all points of the globe. As of this year, TempleCon is one of the largest conventions in North America for tabletop miniatures wargaming, playing host to the largest Warmachine and Hordes competitive events in the entire world, along with tournaments, campaigns, and demos from a myriad of other game systems run by representatives of the companies that bring you them. If that weren't enough, all of this mayhem takes place on professionally crafted miniature terrain to really put you in the game.

But Wargaming is just a small part of the gaming action at TempleCon. Collectable Card Games, Role Playing, and more also have a massive presence at this thing, as always. And Board Gaming? Prepare to experience what may just be the largest board game library at a major convention outside of Europe.

Come to compete, or come to find a casual game on an open table. Tabletop Gaming at TempleCon is designed to cater to all skill levels and interests!

arcade

When we say you'll experience "retro-gaming," we mean it. TempleCon each year plays host to an ever-expanding arcade of fully restored classic games ranging throughout the 1980s and into the 90s. TempleCon convention director Grant Garvin's personally restored collection of vintage arcade nostalgia is a interactive museum of the golden era of video gaming, available day or night throughout the weekend for you to take a trip down memory lane or compete against some of the annual top scorers. And the best part? No quarters required!

Best of all, we don't just toss the games in a room and call it a day. We kill the lights, pump up the sound, and uncompromisingly bring you the full, vintage arcade experience that has to be seen to be believed.

I managed to sleep threw all my alarms and woke up at 3pm. Turns out I shouldn't fall asleep to podcasts. How was the day?

It was great! I think we will definitely see a few new gamers over our next few events. I was only bummed that I didn't align with Tom for a game. I did play a couple of new games that were both excellent. I didn't plan on liking either, but I always game with an open mind. City of Iron was awesome and I played a prototype of Warring Kingdom with the designer, which was a great deck building game...and I don't like too many deck builders. It had direct player interaction, which was very different.

Nice! Pre-registration closed New Years Eve. When you get to the board game room, at the front of the room, where the games library is, there are schedules for each day with sign up sheets. See you in the morning! :)

I confirmed that I will be running Lords of Waterdeep, Suburbia, Trajan, Bora Bora and In the Year of the Dragon between Saturday and Sunday. When I find out the times, I will post them. I also found out that there is a Small World regional qualifier.

Neal, since you liked this comment, I should probably clarify. Tony was mistaken, it is actually a Ticket to Ride qualifier.
