Two different members of our group have suggested I check into hosting a dinner at Assagi Osteria in McLean. They both raved about the food, and after reading even more raving reviews online, I've decided we should definitely give it a try!

Assaggi means "tastings" in Italian and is the dream child of chef/proprietor, Domenico Cornacchia. Before deciding to pursue his dream of operating his own restaurant, Domenico was corporate executive chef and partner at Café Milano for more than 15 years. His culinary umbrella also covered Café Milano’s two sister restaurants – Sette Bello in Clarendon, VA. and Sette Osteria in Dupont Circle.

At Assaggi Osteria, Cornacchia taps into ages of ancestral Italian cooking each time he steps into his kitchen and brings a rich love of the cuisine that he so skillfully nurtured through the years.

For those who love Italian cuisine, Assaggi Osteria features numerous appetizers, large salads, homemade pastas, fresh seafood, veal and scrumptious beef. Assaggi Osteria sources whole fresh fish from worldwide sustainable sources, offering the finest bounty the sea has to offer. Numerous fresh fish varieties are featured daily, pastas are home-made, and produce is purchased at local farmers' markets and Amish farms.

You can check out the full menu online at
If you love lobster, Wednesday night features a lobster special!

Hope you can join us on Wednesday, October 23! We will have a private dining room for our group. Free parking is available on site.

Can't wait! :-D

Thanks for organizing this Mel! I had the lobster special with risotto really liked it. Groupons can make it difficult for a restaurant because they affect the bill, frequently after the bill has been tallied. It is a good idea to let the server know about groupons and coupons before you get the bill so that they can be prepaired. Otherwise it does make them a bit "cranky" sometimes.

The food was good. The salad (Tuscan Kale) was delicious. The papardelle with seafood was also very pleasant. It was not exceptional but it was defineitely a pleasant dining experience.

The group was a lot of fun, Thanks Mel for the great organization, as for the restaurant the food was good but the attitude of the owner was disrespectful and unprofessional in handling the groupon situation, I won't be going back to that place.

This will be my first event with this group. I'm really looking forward to meeting some members and enjoying a fabulous meal :-) I have to work a little late tonight so I'll be coming straight from the office, but definitely planning to be there!

I just joined this group. Some favorite Arlington restaurants are Willow (with a very nice private dining room that can accommodate about 14 people), Cafe Asia in Rosslyn with a larger private space (my friend owner Yu Sheon can put together amazing off-the-menu dinners for a group), and Mussel Bar and Grill in Ballston (but acoustically challenging during prime meal times). I am really looking forward to meeting some of you and breaking bread soon.
