One of my favorite places for Italian/Mediterranean cuisine in the area, very fresh pastas made in-house, good-portioned appetizers/entrees, and more-importantly nice service.

It's been a couple of years since we last did a main event here, and this places deserves a revisit. We're going back to Siroc Restaurant [downtown DC].

  • Ranked #43 : 2010's Washingtonian Magazine's 100 Best Restaurants

FOOD: Chef Martin Lackovic [formerly of Galileo, I Matti and The Caucus Room ... nice pedigree!] serves-up North Italian / Mediterranean cuisine using seasonal ingredients.

Siroc's seasonal menu features cooking inspired by Italy and the Mediterranean with housemade pastas, charcuterie, salads and entrées. (factoid: the restaurant takes its name from a wind that blows from northern Africa to Italy and the Mediterranean). We've been here several times before to strong ratings on the food.

For Restaurant Week, Siroc is showcasing a 4-course menu:

1st COURSE (i.e. Starters) - choice of:

  • Potato Torte layered with Sweet Onion and Thyme served with a Cilantro Puree and Sautéed Wild Mushrooms
  • House-smoked Salmon with Fingerling Potato and Cilantro Salad, Sweet and Sour Marinated Cucumber and Chive Cream
  • Arugula Salad with Roasted Golden Beets, Gorgonzola Cheese, Toasted Pistachios and Black Pepper Vinaigrette

2nd COURSE (i.e. Pasta) - choice of:

  • Hand-cut Spinach Fettuccine tossed with Crushed Tomatoes, Roasted Eggplant, Smoked Mozzarella and Fresh Marjoram
  • Agnolotti filled with Braised Short Rib and Roasted Potato, served with its own braising liquid, topped with Montasio Cheese
  • Black Pepper Tagliatelle served with Seared Day Boat Scallops, Roasted Garlic and Chili Pepper with a Shellfish Broth

3rd COURSE (i.e. Mains) - choice of:

  • Roasted Eggplant layered with Braised Lamb Shank, Oregano and Pecorino Cheese, served with a Roasted Pepper Sauce
  • Sauteed Local Crab Cake served with a Sautee of Corn, Pancetta, Fava Beans and Red Pepper with a Chervil Butter Sauce
  • Roasted Filet of Branzino served with Sautéed Spicy Spinach and Red Potatoes Roasted with Lemon Zest

4th COURSE (i.e. Desserts) - choice of:

  • Classic Tiramisu topped with Bitter Cocoa, served with Fresh Berries
  • Warm Almond Cake with Blueberry Topping and a Cinnamon Zabaglione
  • Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse layered with Chocolate Genoise served with Raspberry Crème Anglaise

Good wine & quality service here as well.

==> Minimum cost for the deal is $46. Tax/Tip combo is our standard 30% for upcharged or additional items like wine, coffee, cocktails, etc.
==> Visit Siroc's website for more information.

SPACE: Sophisticated and contemporary, very nice looking space. Dress code is "smart" casual -- basically, dress comfortably but nicely ;)

+++++++++

==> Tax/Tip combo is our required 30% ( see the FAQs for more details)
==> No Guests (have your friends join, it's free!)
==> Limited to 24 slots

See you there!

CLOSEST METRO : McPherson Square [Orange and Blue Lines]. Quick 1 block walk from the Metro, closest entrance/exit at "15th and I" Street. Farragut North [ Red Line]. Walk east on K Street 4 blocks. Turn right on the second 15th Street. Restaurant is on the left.

For directions using the Metro, try using the Trip Planner at the WMATA website .

PARKING: Update - NO Valet parking is available on Sunday. BUT , there's plenty on-street metered parking ( free on Sundays).

Also, there's garages galore as well if needed. The 13th Street PMI Garage is one of the few in DC that's 24/7, that's in the area:

PMI Garage
1325 G Street, NW
Entrance: on G Street between 13th and 14th Streets, NW

************************************

1. Limited to 24 slots.

2. If you RSVP "YES" please make sure you can definitely make it. With 2,800+ members and limited seating, we cannot afford no-shows. It's unfair to the other members who would like to attend and also to the organizers who have to explain to the restaurant why the reserved # of guests didn't show (can damage our reputation). No-Show rules apply.

3. Event already full?, waitlist for the event!. Use the Waitlist option (the Organizer for each event will enable this as needed). Also, check back regularly (as attendees have been known to cancel up to Noon the day of the event).

4. Billing (add 30% tax/tip to your bill). Remember, include the required 30% for tip / tax in addition to the food / beverages you order as defined in our FAQs.

5. NEW MEMBERS or 1st TIME EVENT GO-ERS, if you have questions about the group, RSVPs, or the overall dining event process, visit our FAQs and our No-Show Policy.

Thanks all for coming. What a nice meal to end the official Summer '11 RW period (some are extending the deal though!). Really nice collection of folks, many hadn't been to Siroc until tonight. Heard a lot of warm comments on the food & service. Easy event to do, you folks make it effortlessly for me ;)
