I hope you all had a very happy holiday and were able to enjoy a couple days of vacation. While many might be returning back to work, it isn't too late to futher enjoy the spirit of the season! While this is a dining group, every year we host an annual holiday walk to help burn off some of those extra calories food lovers such as ourselves have no-doubt enjoyed. This year, we'll be enjoying a festive display starting at the United States Botanic Gardens.
The U.S. Botanic Gardens is featuring a special exhibit through January 1 aptly titled "Season's Greetings". Join us on Saturday, December 29th at 3:30 at the steps of the main entrance to the gardens to start our walk. (Note: In the case of snowfall/rain, we will move the meeting spot to inside the lobby of the main building.) Here we will enjoy a walk through the gardens' conservatory which will be adorned with wreaths, garlands, living ornaments and filled with model trains, buildings made from plant materials and a vast collection of poinsettias to celebrate the wonder of the winter holiday season.
We'll also get to see the famous "garden railway" in the East Gallery, featuring model trains running through an imaginative Enchanted Forest, with fanciful fairy dwellings along the rail line, all created with plant materials! The West Gallery will house one of the largest indoor decorated trees in Washington, D.C., and the Garden Court will be home to a display of model landmark buildings from our Nation's capital, all made from plant materials!
After enjoying this unique display, those who wish to continue will walk over to the U.S. Capitol to view the Capitol Christmas tree.
Wear comfy walking shoes and be sure to bring a camera as there will be PLENTY of opportunities to snag some great shots for next year's greeting cards! And feel free to bring a friend or two - the more, the merrier! :-D
