Democracy 2.0

A New York times poll done in September 2011 found that only 9% of Americans approved of the job that Congress was doing. Jefferson writes in the Declaration of Independence "governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it". Clearly a 9% approval or consent rating suggests that there is much room for improvement to "alter" and improve the process of American democracy. This discussion will focus on the problems, potential solutions and what a next generation paradigm might look like to address our nation's problems though an improved democratic process. This meeting is an adjunct to the Democracy on Trial platform that which will resume in the spring.
