Thursdays are difficult to attend but would love to observe the topics that are chosen and attend when able.
Hi Laura, thanks for joining. I'd like a good reputation around Portland, so leash laws are important to me too. I hope we see you and your poodles soon.
Hello! Laura :-)
Welcome to Portland Patron of the Arts! We are so please to have you wioth us! Please do check out many of our upcoming events! I am looking forward to meet you soon!
I am sorry you are leaving the group but since you are the second lady in two days to leave I think something is going on. If you have have any problems with the group or other members, please email me!
you beat me by 48 seconds.....lol
I hope to see you on Sunday, as I too enjoyed our conversation at the last meetup and hope to talk to you again. Thanks so much for sending the greeting as I had RSVPed yes for this but didn't get it on my calendar... I may have missed it. See you Sunday!
Thank you, Laura! I'm looking forward to it.
Laura, May I suggest you take over as leader of this group? I'd be willing to help with any tasks involved. A possible text could be "Atheism Remix: A Christian Confronts the New Atheists,"a review of which can be found at Nascent Thinker. (I've not read it.) Another possible text -- which you have mentioned -- is "Reasonable Faith" I'm not qualified to lead this group. Nor do have good people skills. You are and do. I urge you to consider taking this on. THIS GROUP IS NEEDED .
Oops, to save you re-reading the whole chapter - the verse is 22:36...but the context seems to be the passion narrative from the meal through to the arrest.
It was great, as always, to see you today. I always get a lot out of what you share. We briefly mentioned Jesus asking the disciples to carry swords. It is in Luke 22. This command seems to be a case of special pleading (the general commandment to not kill and to turn the other cheek don't apply HERE particularly because we're going to the garden to fulfill scripture, etc...) I am not sure, but it is an interesting departure from his sermon on the mount teachings.
Hi Laura. I might be willing to participate in a debate (hosted by this meetup group) about biblical manuscripts, sometime this upcoming spring (such as in March or April 2012). But please be more specific about the topic. For example it would be about the degree of reliability of the extant biblical manuscripts, the degree of certainty as to what the original reading of the biblical books was, or whether or not doctrines are significantly effected by the variant readings of various manuscripts?
