Third Tuesday Supports Calgary Twestival March 24

On March 24th Calgary Twestival, a large tweet-up in support of local charities, is hosting an event full of fashion, fame and glamour - all in support of Making Changes.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen for this year's Twestival,” says Lili Bunce, Executive Director of Making Changes. “We have been overwhelmed and amazed by the level of support and enthusiasm that the Calgary Twitter community has offered us.”

The event will be held at Firewater (222 – 7th Street S.W.), and tickets can be purchased online at for $15. The theme of the night originated from one of Making Changes' programs called Walk in Closet whose mandate is “To empower women by providing them with knowledge and a selection of work attire for their transition into the workplace.” At the event, there will be a paparazzi-filled red carpet, a photo booth, and models - along with a couple of unique twists.

Instead of the standard silent auction, Twestival is taking it up a notch and turning it into awalking auction. Espy, a local clothing store located in Inglewood, will be dressing up models in which people will have the opportunity to purchase clothing by buying items directly off of the models for chances to win bigger prizes.

“I am excited to be involved with Twestival as it is a great way to support charity while having some fun too,” says Megan Szanik, Owner of Espy. “Making Changes does good things for women in our community and helps with one of my favorite women's issues: self esteem.”

If people are unable to attend, or if tickets sell out, there is still an opportunity to donate to this charity here

About Twestival

Three years ago, as Twitter was growing to host much of the world’s communication and social space, a fundraising initiative was launched to harness the energy and initiative of this community.Twestival was created by a woman from Canada, Amanda Rose, and was born to bring Twitter users together in support of local and international initiatives.

Since then, over 200 cities have participated in Twestival, raising close to $1.2 million for important global and local causes like clean water and education. Twestival Local events are coordinated 100% by volunteers and 100% of the funds raised through ticket sales and donations go directly to support charitable projects.

Very nice evening - really enjoyed myself.
Not sure about the fashion show however. The models were terrific and very personable, but it's hard to appeal to everyone's tastes with such a varied group. Also, it was a great and important cause, and I was happy to support Making Changes and Walk-In Closet. Keep up the good work!
