As online video consumption continues to grow at an astronomical rate, now is the time to learn how to produce high quality videos on the web. Whether you're in the market to shoot a video for your small business or start up a video podcast, Amber MacArthur and her colleagues from MGI Media, Chris Dick, and Jeff MacArthur - will discuss how to monetize video, how to shoot/edit video, and how to create community around your videos online.

With journalism experience in mainstream media with Citytv, CP24, and CBC, as producers of an award-winning video podcast, and as consultants with clients such as Tony Robbins, Rogers, and IDEE, Amber Mac, Chris Dick, and Jeff MacArthur will provide video strategies for success.

And as always, thanks for our sponsors, CNW Group and the Berkeley Heritage Event Venue. Their support allow us to keep Third Tuesday a free event for the community.

Looking forward to this meeting! How many attendees are already active with social media?

Who attended?

  • 225 attendees
    •  Solid review of basics everyone should know before beginning this kind of project. Learned alot.
    •  The hosts were great with the audience. Although the content was very introductory (at least for me). Definitely sparked some good conversation though.
    •  The presentation was excellent. Amber, Chris and Jeff know there stuff and we're lucky they're always so willing to share their knowledge.
    •  My first Meetup. Room seemed filled to capacity. Many valuable insights. The presenters clearly love what they do and work well as a team. There was no sales pitch. The Q&A session was great. Lots of interaction. People asking questions should stand up so the presenters and audience can see them. Can the slides be posted somewhere?
    •  Excellent pointers for those of us just getting in to video
    •  Amber, Jeff and Chris were great. They had so much valuable information to share. The evening left me feeling inspired and ready to brainstorm on how to incorporate more video opportunities for our organziation. Venturing into video can be intimidating, but they really helped clear up a lot of initial concerns and address popular questions. Thanks for a great evening!
    •  Great presentation. Nice mix of stories and tech notes.
    •  Great "how to" discussion. Very informative and personable speakers.
    •  Well organized presentation; covered a lot of ground but in a manner that attendees could readily understand. Bringing in four years of production experience definitely showed.
    •  very informative
    •  Great event, interesting speakers
    •  We were actually pretty well on top of all the info that was given out in the meet up but a great chance to connect and hear about it from people who have carved out a great niche for themselves and do so with great passion.
    •  Really informative, practical information. Anyone could apply what they learned in this session to improve the quality of their video instantly.
    •  For a quick and basic informative session of how video blogging (vlogging) works, the three key speakers did a great job of getting their knowledge out to the TTT audience. Quite a bit of it was common sense, but for any true beginners in attendance, that sort of info was still necessary; and not only on technical issues, but for behind-the-scenes business concepts as well. Even with a brief educational background in filming with online streaming in mind (1 college course out of a 2-year diploma), they managed to provide a few insider tips that I would never have thought of without further ample experience.
    •  Lots of great tips, not just for video, but for community building.
    •  It was great to have the whole MCI team to offer their perspectives and I always say reviewing the basics and starting with best practices cannot be overlooked. My only question was timing - 6pm start and no food is tough.
    •  It was my first TTT meetup and I enjoyed it a lot. The topic was also new to me, having been mainly concerned with traditional print media production until recently. The presentation was a well-rounded "survey" of the various elements that go into producing social media and the networking culture it is engendering. The presenters spoke knowledgeably from experience and were entertaining while informative and encouraging. The topic revealed to me a whole area that I can explore for new business in communications consulting.
    •  This was my first time at Third Tuesday! I enjoyed it and thought the whole thing went smoothly. The speakers where awesome, the people attending where friendly and had interesting questions and the venue was pretty cool. If I had any complaints, it was with the event. It was with myself, more than anything. Still need to get over my shyness issues and learn to interact more.
    •  It was great with respect to information, the speakers were informative and engaging, but I also attend these to network. My favourite time for networking is at the end when the content of the discussion can provide the access to talking with the total strangers (to me at least...so far) that the room is filled with. The speakers were allowed to go on for WAY too long and consequently, there was very little opportunity for networking at the end. Moving the dates around is a bit of a pain...I know how hard these things are to organize, but maybe booking a month in advance would make it easier to get the room and speakers for the ACTUAL '3rd Tuesday' of the month. I missed the last one because of course I expected it to fall at the end of the month...silly me.
    •  Trio presenting had their presentation down pat, including the jokes, as they have given it many times before. Provided solid real life examples and left lots of time for Q & A.
    •  I did not attend. Moreover, I found it impossible to figure out how to rescind my RSVP once I had submitted it. Is there a trick?
    •  Informative, helpful and entertaining presenters who are plugged into the industry.
    •  Great session with Amber + crew - very useful; lots of takeaways and best practices regarding online video production and distribution. Thanks guys!
    •  I enjoyed the session very much. I wished I attended it before I bought my camera. The panel was very knowedgablel, the audience asked good questions. I would rather have started closer to 6 pm, however. Is it possible to get a copy of the presentation? The comment about passion resonated with me. Also, E squared. One of my one liners about MyDictionary.com's Word of the Day is that it is Eductional and Entertaining. So I was glad to hear this comment. Stephen PS Follow me on Twitter at MyDictionary
    •  It was an interesting presentation and kind of opened your mind to new ideas on how to create and distribute online videos. I also thought the videos offered by the presenters really demonstrated the points they wanted to express. Finally, I would suggest that these meetings start at the said time and then we can have the mix and mingle part later.
    •  information provided was not how it was described- thought it was to deal more with creative concepts
    •  It was a great presentation that would have been even better if the panelists had been coached that their Q&A answers should be short and that when people start leaving it's time to end the Q&A. That quibble should not be taken to mean that they didn't do a great job overall. The presentation was excellent.
    •  Great presentation by knowledgeable well prepared experts in the field.
    •  Enjoyed the networking before hand. Great energy in the room. The individuals who presented were well chosen and provided a lot of helpful and enlightening information. The venue was also fantastic!
    •  I found it very informative. I can immediately apply many of the production aspects to a current project I'm working on.
    •  Good presentation, but unless you want to start your own podcast, less useful. "Be passionate about your subject" was the only real content advice...
    •  three speakers were well prepared and each gave a different perspective on the topic which was useful. The sessions helped me better understand how to create an online video.
    •  This was my second session and this one was great too. Great panel, great questions, great venue...great, great, great!
