ChickAdvisor co-founders Alex and Ali de Bold will provide the next Third Tuesday Toronto gathering with a behind the scenes look at the challenges and experience of establishing a Web 2.0 site. Alex and Ali describe ChickAdvisor as "a social shopping reviews website for women to share advice on everything from hair salons to health clubs. All content is user generated and focuses on the products and local services women use every day. Members can add reviews, send links to their friends, add items to their hotlists and click through to buy items locally or online. Nothing beats a good recommendation and that's what ChickAdvisor is all about!" In its first year the site expanded to include a deals section, forums, a product review club and blog page where individual bloggers are featured. This summer, ChickAdvisor launched a street fashion video series called "Where'd You Get That?", which was sponsored by Alliance Atlantis and featured on Slice.ca. Several times a year, ChickAdvisor brings the party offline through a series of "Shop Crawls", where Toronto members are treated to a night of exclusive discounts from local boutiques, followed by an after party with bags of free swag from major beauty brands. The Shop Craw was created in response to Member's requests to meet up and party in person. ChickAdvisor launched September 2006. Members can add reviews from most major cities in North America. Currently the most popular cities are: Toronto, New York, Ottawa, Los Angeles, Winnipeg, San Francisco, Atlanta, Vancouver, Chicago, Boston, Montreal, London and Calgary. All of ChickAdvisor's growth has been organic and self-funded. As has been the case all year, we're thankful to our sponsor,
CNW Group, whose financial support makes it possible to run Third Tuesdays in Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa and Montreal as FREE events. Thank you
CNW for supporting the Canadian social media community.
