Long-time blogger and social media expert, Tris got his start in tech running laboratories and doing tech support. After years of launching websites for the pharmaceutical industry, Tris jumped into blogging on a whim and hasn’t stopped yet. One of Canada’s first professional bloggers and recognized as a leading expert in both social media and business blogging, Tris continues to charge ahead pushing the edges of social media with whatever new technology catches his eye. Tris is sought after as a guest blogger on leading blogs, teaches courses on social media at BCIT and UBC and is writing an introduction to blogging book due out in late-2009.

This was my first meetup. I thought it was a good meetup and great networking spot. The only thing is that Republic was a little dark inside so it was hard to see people. But otherwise very enjoyable!

LindaHis presentation did not have much beyond the basics, and therefore was a bit boring, but the discussion about privacy and politicians re facebook was interesting.

Viral Spin MediaHi Tris: I thought the meetup was good. The only flaws I saw really was the fact that I don't see faces to well in the dark and the mic feedback was not kind to the ears. Otherwise, it was good.

Paul LeBlancGood speaker, venue and crowd. Only suggestion would be that the speaker take care to repeat all questions from the floor -- many were inaudible.

RaulTris gave a really excellent presentation (that ties perfectly well with the panel we'll have on social media, web 2.0 and etiquette for next month's VanBlogger Meetup). Tris explained a lot of elements of the way in which social media operates for newbies and experienced social media folks.
