35UP! Shakespeare's The Tempest - Free!

Join us on the Lawn for a free show: Shakespeare's The Tempest done with a Steampunk sytle by the North Fulton Drama Club.

For the unititiated, Steampunk is a fabrication of an alternate history, a version of the Victorian and Edwardian eras where technology advanced about a century faster than history recorded. The skies are full of zeppelins and flying contraptions. Everything has a feeling of refinement and luxury made possible through impossible engines built from polished wood and brass, powered by a combination of clockworks and steam.1

Join us on the lawn, left side facing stage, between 7:00 and 7:15 for the pre-show picnic starting at 7:15. I will have a balloon tied to my chair. You need to bring a chair, some munchies to share ( 6 individually wrapped treats to pass around - each under 80 calories thank you) , a non-alcoholic flavored drink or water to trade, your imagination, and maybe, just maybe a fabulous gift for the organizer(s).

Summer Steampunk attire optional.

The people sitting next to me were pleasant, but we did not really interact much. No one made any introductions or sought out new visitors. I did not care for the tunes broadcasted over the sound system during the picnic. I would have chosen different snacks and drinks to bring (or none at all) if I had known that only one or two neighbors and myself would be sharing our picnic (and that there would be a cash concession stand available for those who brought nothing). I had expected the participants to make an effort to dress up for the outing, as I did, but no one else wore anything but the most casual of clothing. The event was advertised as Free Admission, but when I went to pick up a program, I realized that a donation would be appreciated, so I gladly made one. I wrote a check because I had not brought any cash with me (not expecting to need it). The weather was just right, the moon was beautiful, the performance was excellent. I look forward to more plays by NFDC.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
